One Lucky Duck Will Be Rotary’s Winner

“Rubber duckie, you’re the one…” While Ernie of Sesame Street made that tune famous, the melody likely will be on the lips of one lucky winner at the Memphis Swimming Pool on August 24th.

The Scotland County Rotary Club is once again sponsoring the Rubber Duck Derby at the local pool. Tickets are now on sale for $10 and come with the number for one rubber duck.

These plastic waterfowl will be released at the aquatic center at 5:00 p.m. After a few moments to allow the best swimmers to separate themselves from the pack, one lucky duck will be drawn to determine the grand prize winner.

The ticket holder with the number corresponding to that bird will take home the top prize. The cash award will be determined by the total ticket sales.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go to the Scotland County Rotary Club scholarship fund. The local community group annually sponsors a number of college scholarships for local high school graduates going on to secondary educational opportunities including trade schools.

Tickets are now on sale from any Rotarian and can be purchased at Memphis Farm & Home.
