Sheriff’s Office Investigating Wire Theft

The high price of scrap metal has at least one Scotland County farmhouse in need of new wiring. According to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department, approximately 600-feet of copper electric wire was stolen from a home in rural Scotland County.

The theft is believed to have occurred in the early morning hours of September 17. The home is located off Route D in the southwest part of the county.

The thief(s) cut the service line from the road to the home and made off with the entire length of wire.

Anyone that noticed suspicious traffic in this area recently or with any other information on the crime is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 465-2106.
