Beta Group to Host 27th Annual Bazaar

The 27th annual Christmas Bazaar sponsored by Epsilon Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Memphis, MO will be held Saturday, December 6th at the Scotland County R-I High School, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Over 140 tables have been reserved by craft exhibitors from Iowa, Illinois and Missouri. Admission is free.

The sorority will sponsor a food stand all day. Doughnuts and coffee will be available in the morning. Lunch will consist of hot dogs, chilidogs, ham sandwiches, chili, chips, pie, cake, tea, milk, coffee, soft drinks and hot chocolate.

There will be a lot of new exhibitors this year and new items for you to see. Come out, do your shopping, eat your lunch and enjoy the day.

Over the years a variety of merchandise has been exhibited and sold and this year is no exception. There will be kettle corn, jewelry, books, cookies, home baked items, candies, wood items, knitted scarves, elk sticks, natural décor items, quilts, table runners, place mats, cloth items, Eco-friendly soy wax candles, button dolls, tin snowmen, Red Hat Society accessories, rugs, salt rock crystal lamps, scrapbooking items, sweatshirts, clothing, ceramics, Christmas ornaments, wreaths, yard decorations, edible bird houses, wreath creations (made from natural grains, flowers, grasses), doll clothes, purses made out of license plates, vases with button flowers, Discovery Toys, Tupperware, Princess House (glassware), At Home America (homewares), Jafra Cosmetics, Home Interior, Avon, Stanley Home Products, Fuller Brush, Mary Kay gift bags, Watkins Products and Pampered Chef.

Proceeds from the bazaar go for community betterment. Three $300 ($900) Scholarships were given to three seniors: Brett Courtright, Lacey Jack, Megan Westhoff, $600 for helping families in the community, $75 Senior boys breakfast, three $60 dictionaries for spelling bee, (which our sorority sponsors) winners - all school winner was Thomas Shannan, Jordyn Doubet, elementary and Lydia Hunt, second grade, $250 Scotland County Betterment Committee, Restoration of Courthouse Clock project, $200 Scotland County Library toward new roof, $25 Methodist Church youth group for Relay For Life, $70 Pizzas for Art Club for door decorations for Nursing Home, $100 (SCAPP) Scotland County After Prom Parents, $50 Salvation Army, $100 Santa’s helpers, $100 St. John’s Church Community Thanksgiving Dinner, $37 Knit Caps for Scotland County Nursing Home, $25 Alpha Epsilon Sigma Fall Ball, $425 FBLA, FFA and Alpha Epsilon Sigma Sorority and Linda Gray for helping at the bazaar.

The service committee will be delivering spring flowers to several people in the community. In May they will be donating nonperishable food items for the food pantry.

Santa will be present from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for pictures and a babysitting service will be provided again this year by the FBLA. There is a fee charged for these two services. The FBLA will also be available to help exhibitors load and unload.

There will be a ball game on Friday evening this year, so setup will be after 9:30 p.m. and Saturday morning, doors open at 6:30 a.m.

There will be a children’s matinee again this year at the Memphis Theatre. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. with a movie at 1:30 p.m. Price of admission will be a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.
