Community Choir Christmas Cantata to be Held Sunday

The Memphis Community Choir will help area residents get into the holiday spirit with the group’s annual Christmas Cantata to be performed on Sunday, December 14th at the United Methodist Church in Memphis. The performance will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Under the direction of Scotland County R-I music instructor Lori Fulk, the more than 30-member choir will perform numerous vocal pieces with a Christmas theme, demonstrating a variety of music styles for the audience.

Jennie Childress will narrate the Cantata entitled “On This Very Night” accompanied by Ann Luther on the piano.

Musical performances in addition to the choir will include a solo by Schelle Cooley and the quartet of Tom and Teresa Cotton, Joan Hinds and Joe Fulk. The Children’s Choir will also take part in the show. The Methodist Church Bell Choir will entertain guests as well.

Cookies and punch will be provided after the show. A free-will offering is asked to help offset the increasing cost of the music for the annual program.
