John E. Roberson, 90, of Wayland, MO, died Monday, January 7, 2008 at his daughter’s home in rural Canton, MO.

He was born on September 6, 1917 in Abington, IL, the son of William F. and May Blanche Kelly Roberson. On October 18, 1941, John was united in marriage to Wilma Katherine Van Os in Kirksville, MO. She preceded him in death on January 12, 1960.

John had been employed with the Missouri State Highway Department for twenty-five years, retiring in 1979.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Canton, MO.

John was a loving father and grandfather and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren reminiscing about the years past.

He is survived by two sons, James E. Roberson and his wife Ruthie of Williamstown, MO, and Steven F. Roberson of Normal, IL, two daughters, Kathie M. West and her husband Jim of Canton, MO and Marilyn J. Brumbaugh and her husband Delbert of Canton, MO, eight grandchildren, Becky Roberson, Debra Anderson, Chris & Cynthia Roberson, John & Darla West, Gena & Stuart Palmer, Charles West and Melissa Viloria, Reynold and Diana Stout and Bonnie Stout, ten great-grandchildren, Brandon Dochterman, Jamie Whiles and Lewis, Janeen Roberson, Travis Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Mathew West, Samantha West, Wyatt West, Cameron Stout, Chloe Stout and one great-great-grandchild, Haila Whiles, several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Boerkel, Mary Vinal, Gertrude Schiver and Margaret Walter and one brother, James A. Roberson.

Funeral services were held January 10th at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Providence Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
