MARY ELIZABETH RAINE
(8/5/1911 - 1/11/2008)



Mary Elizabeth Raine died January 11, 2008 at John Knox Village. She was born August 5, 1911 to John Vance and Edna Weaver Bumbarger in Memphis, MO. Mary Graduated from Memphis High School, William Woods College and Warrensburg College and taught elementary classes in Memphis, MO, Kansas City, MO and Independence, MO, schools.

She married Cecil C. Raine on June 7, 1936. He died in 1955.

Mary belonged to the Country Club Christian Church and John Knox Village Church. She was a member of PEO for over 79 years, currently a member of Chapter FQ.

She was known for her love of family, quilting and bridge. She completed over 100 quilts in her lifetime - all pieced and quilted completely by hand.

Mary was preceded in death by her sons Ron Raine in 1995 and Bob Raine in 2004 and her brother Paul Bumbarger in 1999.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Denise Raine and Ted Raine of California, Joe Raine of St. Louis, Catherine Raine of Toronto Canada, and four great grandchildren, Cameron Robert Raine and Vance Patrick Raine of California, and Emma Raine and Robert Raine of St. Louis.

Mary Raine embodied unconditional love and grace and was a devoted and loyal friend and lady who lived a full and beautiful life. No words can express how much she will be missed.
