JOYCE DONELSON
(7/24/1931 - 2/16/2008)



Joyce Donelson, 76, of Memphis, MO, passed away on February 16, 2008, at her home in Memphis. She was born on July 24, 1931, at Gillespie, IL, the daughter of James H. and Marcella Cordum Wesley.

She graduated from Palmyra High School in 1949. She also attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, IL, after graduating from Nursing School as an RN, she worked in Greenwich, CT, and Kansas City, MO.

She married Harlo Donelson on June 22, 1955, at New Canaan, CT, and to this union one son was born.

Joyce was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Memphis, MO, former president of the Chapter C, PEO, and member of the Memphis Community Players.

She is survived by her husband Harlo of Memphis, one son Wesley Donelson and wife Debbie, two granddaughters Izabella and Nicolette all of Delmore, New York, one brother James and wife Suzanne of Springfield, MO, one brother-in-law Leo Powell of Palmyra, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Aneta Powell.

The family has suggested memorials to the First Presbyterian Church, or the Memphis Community Players, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral Services were held February 19, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, Memphis, with Rev. Charles McCracken, officiating. Musicians were Connie Courtney, organist and the Evening on Broadway vocalists. Pallbearers were Tommy Powell, Jim Powell, Mark Ragar, Marty J. Smyser, Kevin Smyser, Kyle Smyser and Scott Wesley. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra, MO.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri.
