Roger L. Hopkins, 47, of Dawson, IL, passed away on Sunday March 30, 2008 at his residence. He was born on September 21, 1960 in Quincy, IL, the son of Richard L. and Lou Zella Bain Hopkins. Roger is survived by his daughter Kristen (husband Chris) Hopkins-Young of Franklin, IL, mother Lou Zella Hopkins of Ottumwa, IA, brother Rick Hopkins of Jacksonville, IL, sisters Dianna (husband Mark) Shelley of Canton, MO, and Debbie (husband Tyree) Tolson of Brandon, Florida; seven nieces; seven nephews; eight great-nieces, and nine great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Roger was a welder at Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield, IL. He worked at Vono Pharmacy in Springfield. He was a certified chef graduating from Sangamon State University Culinary School. Roger loved to garden, was an avid golfer, fisherman, and sports enthusiast watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, and Illini basketball. Roger cared deeply for his family and friends especially for his loving daughter Kristen, the love of his life.

Funeral services were held April 6, 2008 at Williamson Funeral Home with Rev. Don Durbin officiating. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service, and burial will follow at Murrayville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins Family. Condolences may be left at
