Michael K. Kirby, 54, Salem, IN, died April 6, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN.

He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and an employee of International Wood.

He was born October 25, 1953, at Salem, IN, to Robert and Catherine Gilstrap Kirby.

On April 3, 1976, he married the former Nita “Jaye” Norton. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother of Salem, IN; a son, Michael Scott Kirby of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Cathe Wingler and Michele Caldwell, both of Salem, IN; three brothers, Jim Kirby, Paul Kirby, and Ralph Kirby, all of Salem, IN; a sister, Janet Gibbons of Salem, IN; a half-brother, Frank Kirby of Warsaw, MO; seven grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Lois Courtney and Karen Norton of Memphis, MO.

His father; a half brother, Gene Kirby; and a half sister, Vera Gilcrest preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held April 11, 2008 at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, IN, with David Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Mill Creek Cemetery, Salem, IN.
