PEARL BREWER
(11/19/1920-4/18/2008)



Pearl Brewer, 87, of rural Bloomfield, IA, passed away at the Davis County Hospital under Hospice care in Bloomfield, IA, on April 18, 2008, where she had been a resident since March 2008.

The daughter of John Harvey and Minnie Fern (Gooden) Nalley, she was born on November 19, 1920, in rural Downing, MO.

She attended the Brush Creek Rural School northwest of Downing, MO.

On October 6, 1938, she was united in marriage to Perry David (Davie) Brewer in Memphis, MO, by Judge Reeves and to this union two children were born, Fern Kay and David Dale.

Survivors include her children, Fern Kay Rickelman and husband, Richard of Pulaski, IA, and David Dale Brewer and wife, Lori of Bloomfield, IA; five grandchildren, Jessica Henderson and husband, Wes of Coralville, IA, Amanda Rickelman of Pulaski, IA, Leon Brewer and wife, Megan of Bloomfield, IA, Kristina Brewer of Pulaski, IA and Jesse Bewer of Bloomfield, IA; one great-grandchild on the way; one sister, Muriel Bruner of Columbia, MO; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse, Davie Brewer in 1991.

Pearl was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, north of Downing, MO, for many years. After the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church dismantled, she moved her membership to the Downing Baptist Church and attended the many local church functions. She also was a member of the Downing Red Hatters which she enjoyed very much.

Mrs. Brewer remained on the farm after her husband passed away where they had farmed for the past 68 years located north of Downing, MO. She enjoyed gardening and her many flowers and was always sharing with family and friends.

She enjoyed her family especially the grandchildren. She always had a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face was near those who she treasured most. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose hearts she touched.

Funeral services were held April 21, 2008, at the Downing Baptist Church in Downing, MO, with David Barton, pastor of the Downing Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Farley, Winifred Bryn, Steve Blessing, Larry Aeschliman, Court Aeschliman, and Faron Mullinix. Honorary pallbearers were Lowell Talbert, Clarence Ray Kinney, Vaughn Ruth, Ellis Speer, Charles Comstock and Laine King. Memorials have been established for the Downing Baptist Church and Downing Cemetery. Burial was in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
