GARY G. BOYD

Gary G. Boyd, Doctor of Chiropractic, 54, of St. Charles, IL died May 9, 2008, in Amarillo, TX, Dr. Gary G. Boyd was called home by our Lord and Savior after nearly a two year battle with Parkinsonís Disease and Prostate Cancer.

Gary was born October 18, 1953, in Taylorville, IL and was raised on a farm for ten years near Memphis, MO before moving to St. Charles, IL, where he spent the rest of his life. He graduated from St. Charles Thompson High School in 1972 and afterwards was sponsored by Dr. John Nyuli, DC to enroll at National Chiropractic College in Lombard, IL in 1979. There Gary received his Doctorate, served as Student Body President and was presented another ten (10) awards at graduation. He was a natural at Chiropractic Health treating and healing over 2,000 patients. He founded AcuCare Chiropractic clinics, one of the largest Chicago land Chiropractic clinics in 1992.

Gary had a passion for horses, golf, water sports, fishing, and basketball (he was a member of the First Place team at the Illinois State Intramural tournament). He became an accomplished percussionist finding any reason to play his drums. Gary loved flying and was rated as a Private Amphibian Single Engine Pilot. Gary often flew his own Lake Amphibian Aircraft between his St. Charles home (DuPage Airport) and his vacation home on Lake Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Lillian Boyd and John H. and Virgene McMurry and step-grandmother, Una McMurry.

Survivors include his parents, Joe C. and Dorothy Boyd of Amarillo, TX; three brothers, Joe D. (Nola) Boyd of St. Charles, MO, Steven (Karol) Boyd of Joliet, IL, and Larry (Bonnie) Boyd of Amarillo, TX and one step-son, Brian Holcomb of Geneva, IL. He was Uncle Gary to five nephews, Joe K., Dr. Brian, Tyler, Shawn and Weston Boyd. He also had three great-nieces and a great-nephew. Last but not least his Labrador, Cigar.

He spent his last year traveling to Alaska and Florida with his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law. His love of our Lord and Savior became his final passion being baptized April 25, 2008, in Amarillo at Hillside Christian Church with Reverend Roy Wheeler officiating.

Visitation will be at Yurs Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 16 in St. Charles, IL. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Harvest Bible Church in Elgin on Randall Road with Brit Gilman, Rev. Roy Wheeler and Shawn Boyd officiating.

Family requests memorials be given in lieu of flowers to The National Chiropractic College, 200 E. Roosevelt Road, Lombard, IL, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsonís Research or the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
