STEPHEN D. McLAUGHLIN
(4/21/1945 – 7/5/2008)



Stephen David McLaughlin was born on April 21, 1945 in Keokuk, Iowa to Maurine Fett McLaughlin and David O. McLaughlin, of Kahoka.

He died of Leukemia/Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on July 5, 2008 in Olympia, WA where he had been living for several years, and working as a Registered Nurse.

On July 28, 1979 he married Debra Lynn Stepp at his parents home in Kahoka, and she survives, as do their three sons, Joshua David, Jeremy Charles, and Mark Thomas. He is also survived by his sister, Terry McLaughlin Burns and her husband Thomas Burns, two nephews, Rev. Dr. James Stephen Burns, Kevin Thomas Burns and his wife Rebecca, and a niece Laura Elizabeth Burns-Heffner, and her husband Terry. He is also survived by a great-nephew, Colin Tyler Burns-Heffner, and three great-nieces, Erin Rebecca Burns, Kaila Nicole Burns-Heffner, and Kari Elizabeth Burns.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Edward, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs William Fett, and paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James McLaughlin, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David McLaughlin, an aunt and uncle Fern Fett Wagner and her husband Ralph Wagner, and another aunt, Berla Fett, and an infant great-nephew David Elza Burns.

Steve grew up in Kahoka, and after high school graduation he became an RN. He later served in the Navy, and was aboard the HORNET when they picked up the Apollo 11 astronauts. His professional career included many Nursing and EMT positions.

Private services were held in Olympia, WA.
