HELEN LUCILLE LEWIS

Helen Lucille Lewis, 88, of Kirksville, MO, formerly of Lancaster, MO, passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, on September 12, 2008.

The daughter of William and Alice (Pindell) Fogle, she was born on September 30, 1919 in rural Scotland County, MO.

On January 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to William Sherman Lewis and to this union two children, William J. and Mary Alice were born.

Survivors include her children, William (Bill) J. Lewis and wife, Connie of Mission, TX and Mary Alice Paulsen and husband, Mark of North Liberty, IA; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Blankenship of Kirksville, MO; several nieces; other family members and many friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman on January 3, 1983 and two brothers, John Alonzo Fogle and Charles Lester Fogle.

Helen and Sherman lived on a farm in Schuyler County for a number of years before moving into Lancaster, MO, where they owned an operated a grocery store for many years until their retirement.

Graveside services were held September 15, 2008 at the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO, with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. A special musical selection was performed by soloist, Cole Tippett. Memorials have been established for Gideons International. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
