DONALD GENE GOODEN
(6/13/1937-10/7/2008)



Donald Gene Gooden, 71, of rural Lancaster, MO, passed away at his home on October 7, 2008.

Donald was born in rural Downing, MO on June 13, 1937.

On June 10, 1956 in El Dorado Springs, MO, he was united in marriage to Juanita Faye Belcher and to this union three children were born, Donna, Darrell and Lisa.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Gooden of Lancaster, MO; his children, Donna Gooden of Lancaster, MO, Darrell Gooden and wife, Debbie of Lancaster, MO and Lisa Gooden of Lancaster, MO; five grandchildren, Stacey Gooden and friend, Kevin Barker of Omaha, NE, Derek Gooden of Lancaster, MO, Colton Gooden of Lancaster, MO, Mindy Roberts of Lancaster, MO and Melissa York of Lancaster, MO; two great-grandchildren, Cason Barker and Hailey Roberts; two brothers, Wesley Emons and wife, Pam of Nebraska City, NE and Ronald Emons and wife, May of El Dorado Springs, MO; Four sisters, Nelda Kinney of Downing, MO, Elma Rippey of Council Bluffs, IA, Ruth Latta of El Dorado Springs, MO and Violet Fulbright and husband, Mike of Willard, MO; other family members and many good friends and neighbors.

Donald is preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Elizabeth Lasley; one half sister in infancy and three brothers, Hobert Gooden, Hubert Gooden and Austin Gooden.

Donald was a member of the Barker Methodist Church.

Donald was a beef and dairy farmer for many years east of Lancaster, MO and was also employed with the Schuyler R-I School system as a janitor.

Funeral services were held October 10, 2008 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Steve Altheide, pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, MO officiating. Music was provided by organist, Maureen Watkins and soloist, Cole Tippett. Special musical selections were “Daddy Hands” and “In The Garden”. Memorials have been established for the Hospice of Northeast Missouri and Schuyler County Relay For Life. Burial will be at a later date at the Hazel Dale Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, MO as the body has been cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO.
