DONNIE DEAN MILLER
(4/26/1932–11/12/2008)



Donnie Dean Miller, 76, of Macon, MO, formerly of Downing, MO, passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO, on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.

The son of Boyd Olin and Leora May (Jackson) Miller, he was born on April 26, 1932 in rural Downing, MO.

Donnie graduated from the Downing High School in 1950.

Only July 5, 1952 he was united in marriage to Hilma Marie Beeler and to this union three children were born, Jerry, Linda and Larry.

Survivors include his wife, Hilma of Macon, MO; his children, Jerry Miller and wife, Kathy of Columbia, MO, Linda Reese and husband, Jay of Ashland, MO and Larry Miller and wife, Laura of Queen City, MO; Six grandchildren, Cameron Miller and wife, Kristina of Lancaster, MO, Justin Miller and wife, Kelly of St. Peters, MO, Kimberly Groman and husband, Thom of Ashland, MO, Angie Ridge and husband, Jamie of St. Charles, MO, Jeff Reese and wife, Alicia of Columbia, MO, and Clayton Miller and wife, Faith of Memphis, MO; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law and husband, Nora Lou and Kenney Toney of Glenwood, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Miller; one sister, Eileen Joy and one sister in infancy.

Donnie was a member of the Downing Christian Church, Downing Lions Club, IOOF Lodge of Downing and Marceline, MO, where he received a 50 year pin and was also a member of the Moose Club of Kirksville, MO. Donnie was a leader for the Downing 4-H Club and also served the Schuyler R-I School District as a board member for a number of years.

Donnie cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His smile will be missed.

Funeral services were held November 15, 2008 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, MO with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Music was provided by organist Betty Anderson and soloist, Cole Tippett. Special selections were “One Day At A Time”, “Precious Memories” and a CD selection of “When I Get Where I Am Going”. Pallbearers were grandsons, which included Cameron Miller, Justin Miller, Thom Groman, Jamie Ridge, Jeff Reese and Clayton Miller. Memorials have been established for the Coffey Cemetery. Burial was in the Coffey Cemetery, south of Downing, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster.
