LORI JEAN COCHRAN
(9/6/1958 – 12/10/2008)

Lori Jean Cochran, 50, of Wyaconda died Wednesday evening, December 10, 2008 at her home in Wyaconda.

She was born the daughter of Ralph E. and LaVon May (Luncsford) Alvey on September 6, 1958 in Pico Rivera, CA.

Lori grew up traveling all over the United States.

She married Jack Cochran on September 4, 1975. She and Jack continued to travel before settling in Missouri, the state where they met. Lori and Jack were best friends and spent 33 years together.

Lori lived for her family. She loved to spend time with them singing everywhere, doing crafts, swimming, dancing, karaoke, boating, eating out and shopping. She loved people and wanted to help everyone. If you needed an ear, she was there to listen. Lori had been ill and in pain for a while but she only knew of her cancer less than a month before it took her life. She had been struggling with the recent death of her son.

She studied with “Jehovah’s Witnesses” for many years and considered it her faith. However she was never baptized, but believed the teachings and looked forward to the resurrection when she would see her son, parents and sister again at John 5:28-29.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Alvey; her sister, Dee Harmon; two infant brothers, Jack & Danny Alvey; her parents and her niece, Shelly Harmon Luncsford.

She is survived by her husband, Jackie Joe Cochran of Wyaconda; two daughters, Angela Cochran Allen and husband Travis of Kahoka and Patricia Cochran Gordy of Memphis; ten grandchildren, Allen Pickering of Iowa, Shayla, Tyler, and Mickey Alvey of Columbia, Cody and Tristen Kice of Kahoka, Kindel Droege of Kahoka, Tiffany and Cheyenne Dundee of Memphis, and Tayten Gordy of Memphis; three brothers, Clarence Alvey, Dave and Phyllis Alvey, Jerry and Pat Alvey, all of Missouri; one sister, Linda and Bob Greenley of Gorin; four nephews, Danny Alvey of California, Rick and Linda Alvey of California, Jerry and Stacey Alvey of Ohio, Jimmy and JoAnn Lee; four nieces, Marilyn Alvey of Cape Fair, Patrina and Marvin Coverdell of Edgar Springs, Kristina and Chris Coverdell of Cuba, Lavon and Vince Robles of California; and many great- nephews, great-nieces, and friends.

Memorial services were held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda, with Ray Ostlund officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the family and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 N. Main St., Wyaconda, MO 63474.

Online condolences may be sent to Mrs. Cochran’s family via email at gerths@gerths.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service from their Wyaconda chapel.
