Rams Ruin Tigers’ North Shelby Tourney Opener

Saddled by foul trouble, Scotland County saw its opener in the North Shelby Tournament slip away in the second half as Schuyler County went on to a 46-34 victory on January 14th.

SCR-I built an 11-9 lead in the first period after a three pointer by Travis Trueblood.

The Rams rallied to pull ahead 23-21 despite getting just two points from standout Jacob Winkler. Jesse Wheeler scored eight points in the second period to fuel the run.

Travis Trueblood hit a three pointer in the third period but Kyle Shelley’s basket in the paint was the lone other field goal of the quarter as Schuyler County led 31-27.

The Rams pulled away in the fourth period as both Brandon Garnett and Cody Musgrove fouled out for Scotland County. Schuyler County finished the game on a 15-7 run to win by the final margin of 46-34.

Musgrove finished with 12 points to lead SCR-I (5-8). Trueblood finished with nine points. Winkler led Schuyler County with 16 points and Wheeler added 12.
