Midgets Drop SCR-I to 1-2 in Conference

Early turnovers helped Putnam County take a double-digit lead in the first period and Scotland County never recovered as the Midgets rolled to a 74-55 Tri-Rivers Conference victory January 25th in Unionville.

The home squad used a smothering defense to feast on several early miscues by SCR-I to jump on top 20-10.

Cody Musgrove scored six points in the second period, but SCR-I failed to connect on five of eight free throws and was unable to cut into the lead as the Midgets led 37-25 at the break.

Kyle Shelley fueled a third period surge with five points but Putnam County kept pace to maintain a 51-40 advantage with just eight minutes to play.

The Midgets went 12 of 16 from the charity stripe down the stretch to put the game away and produce the final margin of 74-55.

Musgrove led Scotland County (7-10, 1-2 TRC) with 18 points. Andrew Duley added 10 points and Shelley finished with nine points in his first game back after a knee injury.
