Davis County Captures 77-67 Win in Memphis

A good start and a huge finish were not enough to get the Scotland County basketball team back on track as Davis County used big second and third period runs to best the Tigers 77-67 on February 11th in Memphis.

SCR-I matched the Mustangs point for point in the first period. Cody Musgrove poured in 11 points in the opening eight minutes as the game was tied 17-17.

Jacob Howard came off the bench to score six points in the second period and Brandon Garnett hit a three pointer but Davis County pulled ahead 36-29 at the break.

Garnett’s second three pointer of the game kept the Tigers close early but Davis County closed the third period with a big run to lead 54-39.

Scotland County exploded for 28 points in the final eight minutes. Garnett and Andrew Duley each had six points and Musgrove closed out the game with 12 points. But it wasn’t enough as Davis County held on for the 77-67 win.

Musgrove led Scotland County (8-12) with 27 points. Garnett finished with 14 points and Howard added 10.

All five Davis County starters scored in double figures.
