Kirsten Johnston Shines in NEMO All-Star Basketball Game

Kirsten Johnstonís star shined brightest among stars from across northeast Missouri. The Scotland County R-I graduate led all scorers with 23 points as her Blue Team dominated the 21st Annual Northeast Missouri Officials Association All-Star game held in Kirksville May 31st.

The former Lady Tigers standout scored the first two baskets of the contest and insured that her team never trailed en route to the win in front of the fans at Pershing Arena on the Campus of Truman State University.

Johnston was coached by Marion Countyís Mike Johnson and was teamed up with fellow Tri-Rivers graduates Kassidy Shuman and Daryle Goldie.

The game was as close as 20-18 early in the second period before Johnston scored eight straight points including a three pointer that helped her team pull away to lead 43-24 at halftime.

Johnston connected on 10 field goals, and was 2-2 from the free throw line to score a game-best 23 points. Goldie added 19 points for the Blue team.

The Red team was led by all-stater Brandie Roberts of Cairo who scored 17 points.

Earlier this spring Johnston signed with John Wood Community College to play both softball and basketball
