Millerís Bat, Arm Leads Knox Past Lady Tigers

Brittany Miller shouldered much of the load for Knox County as the Eagles bested Scotland County 5-1 in a Tri-Rivers Conference softball contest September 16th in Edina.

The Lady Eagles pitcher shutout SCR-I for the first six innings and also blasted a three-run homer to account for much of the offense in the key league contest.

A pair of Scotland County fielding miscues opened the door for the big first inning. After the first two batters reached on errors, Kelly Lister retired the next two batters on come-backers to the mound. But Miller put her team on top when her drive cleared the fence.

Knox County tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the second inning, again with two outs, and again courtesy of a pair of SCR-I errors.

Miller didnít allow a hit until the fourth inning, when Lister broke up the no-no with a base knock.

SCR-I broke through in its final at bat. Jessica Sites walked and came around to score on a double by Augusta Purvis.

Lister went six innings on the mound, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five.

SCR-I fell to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
