SCR-I Softball Battery Earns All-District Honors

Scotland County’s starting pitcher and catcher were honored recently when the 2008 Class 2 District 12 All-District softball teams were announced by the coaches.

Junior Kelly Lister was one of six pitchers named to the all-district squad.

She was joined by teammate Deidra Dochterman, who was named to the all-district honorable mention list after handling the catching duties for Scotland County during her senior season.

Putnam County’s Stacy Hines headed the list of pitchers honored on the first team. The senior from Putnam County saw her senior season end in the district title match when freshman Julie Schultz of Highland out-dueled her counterpart en route to earning all-district honors as well.

Other pitchers making all-district were Alyssa Greenstreet, a senior from Schuyler County, junior Brooke Wheeler of Clark County, and junior Brittany Miller of Knox County.

Also earning first team honors were catcher Ashley Runquist, a sophomore from Highland.

The all-district infield included Putnam County seniors Katie Steele and Hilary Mason, senior Britni Bertelli of Clark County, Knox County sophomore Hannah Dale, and junior Jessica Murfin and senior Ashlan Knoche both of Highland.

The lone outfielder honored on the first team was Schuyler County’s Kaitlyn Stump, a junior.

Joining Dochterman on the honorable mention list were Cady Flood, junior, Clark County; Myra Parrish, junior, Knox County; Jackie Ebert, senior, Schuyler County; Amanda Hinkle, junior, Highland; Brandy Shultz, junior, Putnam County.
