March 21st marks the season change that is accompanied by the traditional “Spring Cleaning” frenzy. Veolia Environmental Services will be lending a hand to Memphis residents in their efforts.

The bulk collection dates for the City of Memphis will be Tuesday, April 7th and Friday, April 10th for city residents. The pick-up corresponds with the regular collection dates of Tuesday and Friday.

Household items to be collected will include couches, chairs, tables, carpet (only in 4ft. sections and bundled), barbecue grills (propane tank removed), large toys, mattresses (must be kept dry), televisions, microwaves, small kitchen appliances. All items are limited in weight terms to “what two men can carry.”

An appliance collection will be held Friday, April 10th for all customers. Residents wanting to dispose of appliances must purchase a sticker prior to February 10th. The cost of the sticker is $5 for non-Freon appliances such as stoves and washers, and $20 for Freon appliances such as freezers and refrigerators. The stickers are available at Memphis City Hall and must be attached to the appliances. Compressors must be left on the Freon appliances.

The list of items NOT accepted for the bulk collection includes yard waste, batteries, chemical or liquids such as paint, gas and oil, car parts and demolition or remodeling materials.
