Pool Opener Postponed Until Saturday, May 30th
Cool, wet weather combined with damage caused by a recent lightning strike, has setback the opening date for the Memphis swimming pool by one week.
The park had been set to open this Saturday, the earliest opening date since the new facility had been constructed. However weather has not allowed the water temperature to rise to the desired 70-degree mark.
Also repair work is underway to a light bank that was damaged by the severe weather on May 15th. Lightning struck one of the pole lights, damaging the cement base of the light, where several lag screws exploded from the cement pillar and were sent flying.
Instead of the traditional start date of the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the Memphis pool will now open on Saturday, May 30th.
