Go-Karts Get Green Light for Friday Night Fair Race
The roar of engines will be returning to Scotland County Speedway during the 2009 Scotland County Fair. Okay buzz, may be a more appropriate description for the engine sounds generated when the green flag drops at the Memphis track, but racing fans are sure to enjoy the action when the go-karts of Show-Me Speedway take center stage Friday night at the fair.
Kart enthusiasts from the Tri-state area will converge on Memphis Friday, June 26th for the third annual fair race.
Drivers from age five to 60 will compete in seven different classes giving the grandstand crowd plenty to cheer for.
Crews will be working all day Friday to prepare the oval racing surface in the front stretch of the speedway. Fencing and barriers will surround the smooth racing surface as karts (divided by weight classes) will do battle in seven separate feature races.
Show-Me Speedway board member Ron Gardner stated the race will be governed by IFK/Kart rules as well as the standard Show-Me Speedway guidelines.
A number of local sponsors have helped race organizers provide a special pay out schedule that will reward all participants for traveling to Memphis for the show. The driverís pit pass is being paid for by local donations.
Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with the first heat races set for 7:00 p.m.
