Mendenhall Case Receives Second Change of Judge
Less than six months in and the case of the State of Missouri vs. Joseph Mendenhall is on its third judge.
The Missouri Office of State Court Administrators appointed Judge Jack Peace to the Scotland County case on June 22nd following a change of judge petition filed by Scotland County Prosecuting Attorney Kimberly J. Nicoli.
Judge William Alberty had been assigned the case by the OSCA after a petition by the defense for a change of judge, which eliminated First Judicial Circuit Judge Gary Dial.
Peace is the circuit judge for the 3rd Judicial Circuit, which serves Mercer, Grundy, Harrison and Putnam counties.
The judge is expected to hear a change of venue request in the next couple of weeks. A similar motion was scheduled for hearing by Judge Alberty before the change of judge request was granted.
Joseph Mendenhall, 67, of Memphis, is facing two counts of Class C felony of statutory sodomy in the second degree and one charge of class C felony felonious restraint for his alleged sexual assault of a 15-year old juvenile.
