Fair Board, Firemen to Host Second Demo Derby

After one of the most entertaining demolition derbies in recent Scotland County Fair history, the fans who were shouting for an encore following the 2009 Pepsi-Cola Demolition Derby have had their wishes answered.

The Scotland County Fire Department and the Scotland County Fair Board are joining forces to try and fill the grandstands once again in 2009.

Both full size and compact cars will be battling it out on Saturday, September 5th. The event is set for 6:00 p.m. Car check in will start at 3:00 p.m.

The traditional derby rules have been modified slightly to allow more previously run cars the opportunity to return to action. Such changes will allow trunks and doors to be welded shut as well as bumpers to be welded on, minus any extra metal or reinforcement.

For more information contact firemen Stacey Westhoff (660.216.2716), Kevin Holton (660.216.2309) or Jeff McBee (660.216.0342) after 5:30 p.m.

The special event is being scheduled by the fair board in an attempt to raise additional funding to help secure a carnival for the 2010 county fair.
