Munzlinger Announces Senate Run
First District State Representative Brian Munzlinger (R-Lewistown) isn’t ready to give up serving his constituents. After four terms in the Missouri House of Representatives, Munzlinger announced on August 21st that he will be seeking the 18th district senatorial seat.
“With the support of my family and friends, I am ready to take on this new challenge,” Munzlinger said. “Together, we can work to keep commonsense principles in the Senate and put people before politics.”
Munzlinger won the first of four elections for the first district house seat back in 2002. Due to term limits he can not seek re-election. He will now seek to expand his service area from the seven counties (Scotland, Schuyler, Clark, Knox, Lewis and parts of Marion and Adair counties) of northeast Missouri in the First District to the 13 counties of the 18th Senatorial District. The senate district includes all of his original constituents in addition to Putnam, Shelby, Monroe, Audrain, Ralls and Pike counties and all of Marion and Adair counties.
“In my current position as a state representative, I have effectively brought the concerns of my district to the Capitol, while keeping my roots in northeast Missouri,” Munzlinger said. “I have earned a reputation for being honest, fair and a team player. I understand the issues important to all of us here and have sponsored legislation that has positively impacted education, families, businesses and farms.”
Munzlinger used his experience as a farmer and businessman to earn the position of chairman of the House Agri-Business committee. He also serves on the House committees for Rules, Transportation, Administration and Accounts, Appropriations - Agriculture and Natural Resources, Joint Committee on Life Science, and Joint Committee on Transportation Oversight.
