Local Grower Named Missouri Corn Chairman

(JEFFERSON CITY, MO)—Kenny McNamar, a grain and livestock farmer from Gorin, has been elected chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC). The vote took place during the organization’s August board meeting. McNamar takes over the reigns on October 1st, succeeding Keith Witt of Warrenton, MO.

“Serving Missouri’s 16,000 corn growers is a great honor,” said Witt. “Over the last 25 years MCMC has worked hard to expand markets and increase opportunities for growers. Kenny has the experience and vision to keep the organization moving forward and provide growers with a strong voice.”

McNamar represents growers from District 3 in the northeast portion of the state. His farming operation includes corn, soybeans and beef cattle. He previously served the state’s growers as the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) vice-president and MCMC treasurer. McNamar has also represented growers nationally through the National Corn Growers Association and U.S. Grains Council.

“In today’s challenging economic times, producer-led organizations like Missouri Corn play an ever-important role in helping grow the demand for corn in all possible markets. This includes livestock, ethanol and exports,” said McNamar. “At the same time, consumers are becoming further removed from the farm. Missouri Corn remains committed to helping the public connect the dots and increasing market opportunities for farmers.”

The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer producer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is dedicated to market development, research and education.
