H1N1 Vaccine Restrictions Being Relaxed

Extended production of the H1N1 flu vaccination has allowed the Center for Disease Control to relax recommended guidelines for recipients.

Scotland County Health Department Director Margaret Curry indicated the move will now allow residents between the ages of six months and 64 years of age to qualify for the vaccine.

“The main priority groups are still pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants under 6 months of age, healthcare workers and emergency medical personnel and people up to 64 years of age,” Curry said. “We hope by the end of the month to open it up to every age that wants the vaccination.”

The health department clinic hours are Tuesdays from noon to 2:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A special vaccination clinic is scheduled for November 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. offering the immunization free of charge to anyone between the ages of six months and 64 years old.
