RAYMOND “MIKE” SCOTT
(7/10/1918-1/5/2009)



Raymond “Mike” Scott, 90, of LaPlata, MO, passed away January 5, 2009, at the LaPlata Nursing Home at LaPlata, MO.

He was born July 10, 1918 at Colony, MO, the son of Frank and Mary Carmack Scott.

On February 4, 1941, at Kahoka, MO, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Reta Myers and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2005.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry Ray Scott; five brothers, Alney, James, Eldon, Elmo and Melvin Scott; three sisters, Virgie Franke, Ivy Dauma, and Elizabeth Spidle.

Surviving are two sons, Frank Lewis Scott and wife, Diana of LaPlata, MO and Roger William Scott and wife, Tammy of LaBelle, MO; one brother-in-law, Delbert Myers and wife, Neta Lou of LaBelle, MO; one sister-in-law, Relta Scott of Baring, MO; four grandchildren, Julia Darr Scott of St. Louis, MO, Stefanie West and husband, Richard of Columbia, MO, Justin Scott and Jaclyn Scott, both of LaBelle, MO; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Darr, Scott West and Bradley West, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was reared in the Colony area and attended school in LaBelle. Mike was a member of the Harmony Grove Church while living on their farm near Rutledge.

Mike spent his adult life on his farm near Rutledge, farming and raising horses. Mike enjoyed spending time at the Dog and Gun Auction, driving his team and wagon and visiting with neighbors.

Funeral services were held January 9, 2009 in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO, with Rev. Ernest Deatrick and Rev. Dewayne Wellborn officiating. Casket bearers were Roland Weiler, Russell Phillips, J.W. Franke, Stan Franke, Mike Franke, and Richard West. Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery, LaBelle, MO. An expression of sympathy in memory of Raymond “Mike” Scott may be made to the LaPlata Nursing Home or the Harmony Grove Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
