HAROLD FLESHMAN
(1915 – 2/7/09)



Harold Fleshman, 93, of Kahoka, formerly of Wyaconda, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

He was born the son of Thomas Irvin and Florence Edith Fleshman on a small farm near Wyaconda.

Harold graduated from the Wyaconda High School. He was a farmer all his life, sometimes farming several hundred acres.

He was a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church, but helped support both it and the Wyaconda Baptist Church. Harold was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Wyaconda Lions Club.

Harold enjoyed working crossword puzzles and tried to do one every day, while his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, Pauline and Martha, and his brother, Arthur.

He is survived by his niece, Mary Edith Norris of Galesburg, IL; great-nephews, William Arthur Norris and wife Kerre of Galesburg, Roland Wayne Norris and wife Renie of Roselle, IL, John David Norris and wife Terre of Springfield, MO and James Franklin Norris and wife Beth of Galesburg; two brothers-in-law, Tom and wife Sigrid Ortel of Iowa City and Frank and wife Beth Ortel of Peaksville; a sister-in-law, Susan Betts of Keokuk; several great-great-nieces and nephews, and his long-time caregiver, Gloria Hodges of Wyaconda.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, at the Gerth Funeral Home in Wyaconda with the Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Bob Lipper, Don Scott, Bennie Scott, Herb Brookhart, Clifford Wilson, and Tracey Russell served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Red Cross and may be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Wyaconda, MO 63474.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service from their Wyaconda chapel.
