Kenneth Leon Crain, age 71, of Lewistown, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009, in Columbia, Missouri.

He was born July 27, 1937, at Carterville, Illinois, the son of Leonard Paul and Mabel Bearden Crain.

On June 29, 1957, at Aurora, Illinois he was united in marriage to Beverly June Summers.

Surviving are his wife Beverly June Crain of Lewistown, Missouri, four children, Michael Crain and fiancée Becky Booth of Lewistown, Missouri, Nora Crain of Lewistown, Missouri, Tracy Hayes and husband Gene of Knox City, Missouri, and Jo-Ann Schultz and husband Russell of Baring, Missouri, one sister Donna Kopp of Sandwich, Illinois, seven grandchildren, LyAnn Allen, Kenneth M. Crain, Joshua Schultz, Jennifer Easley, Justin Schultz, Amanda Golden and Jamie Fernandez and five great grandchildren.

Kenneth received his education in Illinois where he graduated from East Aurora High School in East Aurora, Illinois.

He was employed with Great River Gas Company now (Atmos Gas Company) for over forty years till his retirement. Since 1970 Kenneth and his family have resided east of Lewistown, Missouri on their farm.

Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, mowing and spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri. Reverend Jason Geisendorfer will officiate the services. Burial will on the family farm east of Lewistown, Missouri.

Casket bearers will be Kenneth M. Crain, Joshua Schultz, Justin Schultz, Russell Schultz, Bradley Stice and Chris Easley.

Honorary bearers will be Joe O’Brien, Ronnie (Rooster) Ryback, Al Holeman and David Rowland.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri.

Memorials in memory of Kenneth Leon Crain may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, Missouri, 63447.
