GARY FRANKLIN COCHENOUR
(2/28/1942 - 3/12/2009)



Gary Franklin Cochenour, 67, of Arbela, MO passed away Thursday evening, March 12, 2009, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

The son of John Earl and Flora Hopp Cochenour, he was born February 28, 1942, in Luray, MO.

He attended school until he pursued other adventures that led him to farming.

He married Janice Waggener June 22, 1968, and to this union three children were born.

In the early 60s he bought the place that his family still lives on today. He enjoyed purchasing his machinery away from the area to travel and going to sales to visit with people along with spending time on the farm with his family and taking care of his livestock. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop and catching up on the latest with his friends. Other hobbies included attending the Antique Days to drive his tractors and taking his family hunting.

Surviving relatives include his wife of over 40 years, Janice Cochenour of Arbela, MO; two daughters, Tammy Jo Wilson of Lenexa, KS and Tina Lou Payne and her husband Jaramie of Arbela, MO; one son, Gary Earl Cochenour and fiancée, Cathy Wagler of Arbela, MO; nine grandchildren, Mark Pender Jr., Jakob, Jaydan and Jakobie Payne, along with Zachary Gerald Jordan and fiancée Moriah Kittle all of Arbela, MO, Christopher Thaxton of Pulaski, IA, Marcelo, Kaleb and Adrianna Rose; one brother, Earl Wayne Cochenour and his wife Betty of Luray, MO; two brothers-in-law, Jim Wharton of Kirksville, MO and Larry Wharton of Queen City, MO; nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents and brother, Sherman Robert Cochenour.

Memorials have been suggested to either the Scotland County Cancer Fund or the family and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the Payne Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan Hite officiating. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Jordan, Carl Sommers, Gerald, Kerry, Andrew, and Bobbie Cochenour. Honorary pallbearers were Bob and Davie Nakue, Keith Payne, Donald Dice, Stanley Mohr, Terry Johnston and Jim Wharton.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
