Leon (Lonnie) Parish, 90, of rural Arbela, MO, (Azen) passed away on Thursday April 23, 2009, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital, Memphis, MO. The son of Otis Glen and Estella McDaniel Parish, he was born March 3, 1918 in rural Scotland County, MO. He graduated from eighth grade. On August 10, 1955 he married Martha Maupin at Auxvasse, MO, and to this union one son was born.

He enjoyed spending time with his family riding his four-wheeler and spending time on the farm caring for the ground and livestock.

He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church north of Arbela, where he was baptized at an early age.

Leon is survived by his son Lee Parish and his wife Celeste, one granddaughter Martha and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Memorial Hospital, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral Services were on Sunday April 26, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, with Bro. Jack Sumption, officiating. Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Pallbearers were Wayne Durham, Mike Aylward, Loren Zeiset, Charlie Zimmerman, Clyde Zimmerman, Ronnie Miller, Blake Holt and Clayton Kline.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
