JIM GUY MURRAY

Jim Guy Murray, age 74, of Novelty, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009, at his residence west of Novelty, Missouri.
He was born July 29, 1934, on a farm in the Locust Hill community, the son of Guy H. and Elsie Marie Shearer Murray.
He was united in marriage to Doris Elaine Waibel on August 5, 1953.
Surviving are his wife Doris Elaine Murray of Novelty, Missouri; four children, Candy Phillips and husband Tom of LaPlata, Missouri, Mike Murray and wife Carla of Rogers, Arkansas, Matt Murray and wife Lori of Novelty, Missouri, and Dianna Otto and husband Willard of Leonard, Missouri; two granddaughters, Alaina Murray and Whitney Otto; four grandsons, Jonathan and Benjamin Murray and Tyler and Nolan Otto; one brother-in-law, Garland Waibel of Memphis, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Wynona Banks and husband Brian, and Rita Waibel of Edina, Missouri; nieces, nephews and numerous cousins including special cousins, Madelene Hettinger, Betty Clark and Bill Pence and wife Lana.
Jim attended grade school at the Locust Hill rural school and was a graduate from the Novelty High School in 1952. He participated in baseball and basketball while in high school and loved to encourage his children and grandchildren to do their best in sports or anything they chose to do. He was a faithful St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Jim lived and farmed all his life in Knox County except for a short time when he worked in Davenport, Iowa and Quincy, Illinois.
Jim was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Reese Blaine will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
Musical selections will be “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Wind Beneath My Wings”.
Casket bearers will be Eugene Brenizer, Jeff Smith, Stanley Bowen, Steve Walker, Dennis Bradley, and C.Von Snow.
Honorary bearers will be Gerald Davis, Ray Griffith, Leon Murray, Leroy Hall and Jim Lincoln.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 2009, from 12 noon till service time at 2 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
Memorials in memory of Jim Guy Murray may be made to the Locust Hill Cemetery.
