JACQUELINE MARIE COOP

Jacqueline Marie Coop, 52, of Gorin, died Wednesday morning, June 10, 2009 at her home.

She was born the daughter of Jack Dean and Jennie Grace (Lee) Mills on November 2, 1956 in Ft. Madison, Iowa.

Jackie attended school in Farmington, Iowa.

She married Robert Coop on November 2, 1976 in Keokuk. He survives.

The Coops settled in Gorin after the wedding.

Jackie worked at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis and did the janitorial duties at the Gorin Baptist Church, until her health failed. She started babysitting when she was 12, and she cared for 105 children over the years.

She was a member of the Gorin Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving and cooking meals.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Coop III; a sister Carol Mills; and a brother, Howard Scarlett.

She is survived by her husband of the home; daughters, Alisha Coop and Jeanette Rollings and her boyfriend, Jerry Jones, all of Gorin; two sisters, Kathy Scarlett of Ottumwa and Connie Lee of Davenport; two brothers, Terry Beames of Winfield, Iowa, and Bobby John Beames of Keosauqua; two aunts, Ruth Whan of Rock Island, IL, and Sylvia Parks of Eldorado Springs, MO; and many friends, including two special friends, Mike and Barb Cantril.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13, at the Gorin Baptist Church with Walter Barbier officiating. Marsha Davis, Terry Sommers, and Jeannie Barbier performed two special selections, including Mansion on the Hilltop. Harold Miller, Mike Smith, Mike Cantril, Mike McNichols, Ronnie Boyer and Ricky Coop served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Gorin Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
