OPAL L. PROVANCE
(7/24/1916 – 7/31/2009)



Memorial services for Opal L. Provance, 93, of Princeton, IL, were held Monday, August 3, 2009 at Summers Chapel Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Jon Olinger officiated the services. Cremation rites were accorded at the Sterling Wilbert Crematory.

Opal married Ivan Oliver 1937 in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1974.

Opal L. Provance passed away on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born on July 24, 1916 in Missouri to John W. and Susan (Ladd) Shacklett. She graduated from Gorin High School in 1934. She worked at Jostens and then for Harper-Wymann manufacturing for 18 years.

Interment will be in Gorin Cemetery at a later date.

Survivors include one son, Bill Provance of Dover, IL; daughter-in-law, Delores Provance of Coal City, IL; one nephew, Charles D. Shacklett of Missouri; two grandchildren, Steven and Jerry Provance of Coal City, IL.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Ivan Provance; one daughter at birth; one grandson, Eric Provance; and one brother, Dee Shacklett.

Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.

Norberg Memorial Home, Inc., of Princeton, IL, handled the services.
