CHARLES ANTHONY OSTBERG
(11/15/1971 –8/22/2009)

Charles Ostberg was born in Bloomington, Minnesota, but growing up, he attended several schools, and considered San Antonio, Texas, home. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Charles passed away at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center after a short fight with an unknown illness.

He was the youngest of five children born to the late Gordon E. Ostberg and Catherine (Meyer) Ostberg. He was the beloved husband of Buffey Hauptmann, and doting father to Chloe Ashlyn. Charles will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers and their families, Greg and Brenda and family, Brad, and Randy and Christine and family, loving sister Sharon, kind mother-in-law Karen Hauptmann, adoring in-laws Brad and Carrie Hauptmann and family, Michael and Bobbi French, and Josh and Carolyn Hauptmann and family, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him and touched by his warm smile and sense of humor.

Charles lived and worked in many places including San Antonio, TX, Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Racine, WI, Northampton, PA, and most recently Lee’s Summit, MO.

Before Buffey, one love in his life was ‘Sally’, a 2001 Ford Mustang GT convertible. Prior to self-mastering DIY home improvements, his interests included playing pool, golf, and poker. He was also a master host at birthday parties and family gatherings in the home that he was updating and sharing with his family.

At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by loving family.

Charles’ Memorial Service was held on August 26, 2009, at the Peculiar United Methodist Church, in Peculiar, Missouri, with Pastor James Stanfield-Meyers officiating.

An Education Fund for two-year-old Chloe has been set up at Commerce Bank.
