MRS. LUCILLE CARTER
(3/30/1913-9/14/2009)



Mrs. Lucille Carter passed away September 14, 2009 in Seal Beach, CA.

Mrs. Carter was born to George and Matilda (Crowder) Ketchum in Downing, MO, March 30, 1913.

She graduated from the Iowa School of Nursing in 1936 and she married Steven V. Carter in 1937. They lived in Leon, IA until Steven was elected to congress in 1958 and they moved to Washington, DC. When he passed away in 1959 she returned to Iowa and Missouri spending a number of years in Downing until returning to Washington, DC. In 2002 she moved to Seal Beach, CA to be near her son, Charles.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her son, Charles and wife, Sandra, grandchildren Amy, Emily, Benjamin, Steven B. and Andrea and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five nieces including Mrs. John Cook of Memphis, and one nephew.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven A. and by her parents, and brothers, Victor Ketchum, Harold Ketchum and George Jr. Ketchum.
