ANNA LEE YORK

Anna Lee York, age 83, former resident of Memphis, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at the Saint Josephs nursing home in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Visitation will be at Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis on November 14 at 10:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis. Officiating the service will be Jim Brown. Musicians will be LaMayra Brown and Jim Brown. Pallbearers will be Shannon Killday, Zachary Schmutzler, Monty Schmutzler, Brian Scotti, Jim Scotti and Charles Mayfield.

Anna Lee was born January 26, 1926 at Colony, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Ruth Bertram, brothers Richard, Garland, Gilvie Bertram, and a a son Phillip York.

She is survived by her son, Chad York and wife Randi from Rutledge Missouri; two daughters, Pamela York Schmutzler and husband Monty of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Connie York Scotti and husband Jim of Lenexa, Kansas. There are eight grandchildren, Tanya Killday Dallmeyer, Janelle Killday, Zachary Schmutzler of Jefferson City, Shannon Killday of Eldon, Missouri, Brie York Berg of Bremerton, Washington, Andrea York of St. Louis, Moti Scotti and Brian Scotti of Los Angeles, California. Anna Lee was also a great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren.

Anna also has two surviving sisters, Gertrude Deegan from Las Vegas, Nevada, Irene Mayfield from Rutledge, Missouri, and one sister-in-law, Rose Fishback of Kirksville, Missouri.

Anna Lee was a long time resident of the Memphis, Colony, and Rutledge area, she graduated from Rutledge High School in 1944, and married Robert York in 1945. She lived and raised her children in the Rutledge and Colony communities for many years before moving to Memphis, Missouri. While living in Colony and Memphis, she commuted to work in Keokuk, Iowa and retired after 25 years.

Anna Lee enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers and tomatoes, reading, and walking around her neighborhood to visit with neighbors.

She also enjoyed the holidays with her family, traveling to visit her children and grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by everyone. The family would like to thank friends and neighbors for supporting our Mother before her move to Jefferson City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Pauline Cemetery in Rutledge, Missouri.
