Lady Tigers’ Offense Comes to Life in 40-Point Win Over Brashear

After a week’s worth of offensive struggles in the Highland Tournament, Scotland County put all of those thoughts behind them with a 63-point explosion on Monday night in Brashear to win by 40 points.

Ashley Tague had six points in the first period as Scotland County jumped out to a 16-4 lead.

The sophomore matched that scoring output in the second period as the Lady Tigers expanded the lead to 31-9 at the break.

The third period was all Scotland County. SCR-I put up 24 points over the next eight minutes. Melissa Cotton did the bulk of the damage, hitting three three pointers en route to 11 points in the quarter. Betsey Kittle and Deidra Dochterman also connected from behind the arc as Scotland County expanded the lead to 55-18.

Cotton connected again from three-point land to open the fourth period as SCR-I ran out the clock on the 63-21 victory.

Cotton finished with 21 points to help Scotland County improve to 8-3 on the season. Tague finished with 18 points while Caldwell added nine and Kittle pitched in with eight points.
