Brashear Bests SCR-I 66-35 in Opener of North Shelby Tourney

The cast of characters was a bit different but the results were similar as state-ranked Brashear knocked off Scotland County for the second time in less than a week.

The Tigers, Ranked #8 in Class 1 by the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association, knocked off SCR-I 66-35 on January 19th to open the North Shelby Tournament.

On January 12th, Brashear was led by Trae Treasure and Kiley Watson to a 77-55 win over Scotland County. The duo combined for 35 points.

On Monday night, Treasure did have 12 points, but he was just one of five players in double-digits for Brashear, which jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first period and never looked back.

Ryan Ferdig and Justin Hazen combined for 14 points in Brashear’s fast star.

Scotland County came to life in the second period as Brandon Garnett scored eight points but Brashear was still on top 39-20 at the intermission.

Kasey Dial knocked down a pair of three pointers for the Tigers in the third period but it wasn’t enough to stem the tide as Brashear’s lead grew to 57-33.

SCR-I scored just two points in the final period as the running clock brought a quick end to the 66-35 defeat.

Ferdig scored a game-best 16 points to help Brashear to improve to 11-0 on the year. Matt Thomas and Treasure each had 12 points while Anthony Ambrosia came off the bench to score 11 points. Hazen finished with 10 points to put five players in double digits.

Garnett led Scotland County (2-13) with 14 points. Dial and Kyle Shelley each finished with eight points.
