Shaw, Cotton Combined for 32 Points in Lady Tigers Demolition of Green City

A pair of sophomores came off the bench early Monday night to help spark a first quarter run as Scotland County rolled to a 56-13 victory over Green City.

Jamie Shaw had six points in the first period and Anna Duley concluded an 8-0 run to end the first period with a steal and a lay up as the Lady Tigers led 12-4.

Melissa Cotton scored six consecutive points to start the second period as SCR-Iís pressure defense proved to much for the Lady Gophers. SCR-I fed off forced turnovers to get the fastbreak game rolling. That led to a 28-10 lead at halftime.

Kelsey Frazier was the Scotland County catalyst in the third period. The senior forward converted a three point play that gave her seven points in the quarter and made the score 42-10 with 3:06 on the clock.

Ashley Tague and Valerie Oldham each had six points down the stretch as Scotland County outscored the Gophers 28-3 in the second half.

Cotton led all scorers with 17 points. Shaw had a season-high 15 points for Scotland County which improved to 11-6 on the year. Frazier added seven points and Tague and Oldham pitched in with six. Green City fell to 2-12.
