Tiger Quiz Bowlers Open Season With Victories

Scotland County’s Campus Bowl squads opened their dual meet season with away victories over Canton last Thursday.

The Varsity edged Canton, 150-130, pulling away at the end in a hard fought match. The Tigers trailed after the first quarter, 40-30, but managed to take a five point lead into halftime, 75-70. The see saw game saw Canton regain the lead, 110- 105, after three quarters before Scotland County outscored Canton 45 to 20 in the final stanza.

Senior captain Christina Duzan led the way for the Tigers by answering six toss-ups correctly. She was followed by sophomore Augusta Purvis who correctly answered three toss-ups. The margin of victory was solidified by 25 team bonus points in the last quarter.

Scotland County’s junior high quiz bowlers coasted to their victory with an impressive 255-155 shelling of Canton. The Tigers held an 80-0 lead after one quarter and led 135-25 at halftime and 165-75 after three quarters.

Five Tigers aided in answering toss-ups, led by Thomas Shannan with nine and Joshua Keller with six. Scotland County outscored Canton 18 to 8 in tossups.
