Heck Honored After Netting 2,000th Career Point

Samantha Dianne Heck daughter of Kenny and Debbie Heck of Auxvasse, MO scored her 2,000th point of her high school varsity basketball career in the third place game against the Southern Boone Lady Eagles held at the Southern Boone Tournament on February 6, 2009 at Ashland, MO.

Going into the game she had tallied 1,995 points and thus she needed a mere five more points to reach the awesome goal of 2,000 points. Samantha hit a bucket with 5:22 left in the first half to score her fifth point of the game and her 2,000th of her career.

The North Callaway coach then took a time out so Samantha could be presented with the ball she scored her 2000th point. It was an emotional time for all because this is a great accomplishment for any player to score 2,000 points in their career thus far. Samantha is a four-year varsity high school starter for the North Callaway Thunderbirds and is averaging 20.8 points over 97 games. She also has 1,249 rebounds, 436 assists and 208 steals over her career so far.

Family members who were present to share this spotlight with Samantha as she reached this milestone in her varsity basketball career were her parents, Kenny and Debbie Heck of Auxvasse, uncle and aunt Larry and Nancy Platz of Brashear, sister Tonya Hamlin of Edina and her brother Adam Shaw and his wife Rita and their daughter Mattalie all of Marshall. There was a photo session following the game with family members as well as opponents in basketball as Samantha has become life-long friends with many families and basketball peers in her varsity career.
