Bulldogs Bash SCR-I 64-34 in Regular Season Finale

The second period has been a struggle for Scotland County throughout the season, and that was the case again in the teamís finale February 26th in LaPlata.

Brandon Garnett had five points in the first period as SCR-I kept the contest close, trailing the Bulldogs just 14-11 after eight minutes of play. But the Tigers were hampered by early foul trouble that cost them the services of Kyle Shelley for much of the first half.

LaPlata took advantage of his absence in the second period, going on a 25-9 run to blow the contest open at halftime.

Jordan Smith and Hayden Fouch combined for four 3-pointers in the second period as LaPlata took the 39-20 lead.

The third period was equally difficult for Scotland County, as the Tigers managed just six points, on a pair of field goals by Jacob Howard and a bucket by Shelley.

Taylor Wheeler scored eight points in the period for LaPlata as the Bulldogs lead expanded to 59-26.

SCR-I outscored LaPlata 8-5 in the final period as Andrew Duley connected on a three pointer and Howard added a couple hoops to make the final score 64-34.

Scotland County closed out the regular season with a 6-20 record. Howard led the Tigers with 12 points. Duley and Garnett finished with seven points each.

LaPlata improved to 20-4 on the year behind 15 points from Wheeler and 14 points each from Smith and Curtiss Bunch.
