Bus Trip No Bother For Lady Bulldogs in Win Over SCR-I

The Brookfield Lady Bulldogs came out hitting on all cylinders despite the dreaded bus trip for the conference rivals who made the trip to Memphis on February 17th.

Brookfield put up 18 points in the first period to jump out to a double-digit lead over the Lady Tigers. SCR-I struggled to get its offense in gear, hitting just three first period field goals en route to the 18-8 deficit.

The visitors didnít rest on the lead, instead pushing the bulge to 31-18 by outscoring Scotland County 13-10 in the second period.

SCR-I got its scoring on a pair of buckets by Ashely Tague, a three pointer by Melissa Cotton and free throws by Kaitlin Caldwell and Deidra Dochterman.

Cotton provided the bulk of the offense in the second half. The senior guard scored all but five of the Lady Tigers points in the final 16 minutes of play.

Brookfield used a 12-9 run in the third period to extend the advantage to 43-27.

Cotton drilled a pair of free throws and had 12 points in the fourth period but it wasnít enough as Brookfield went on to the 60-40 Tri-Rivers Conference win.

The loss dropped SCR-I to 13-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Cotton finished with 22 points to lead all scorers. Tague and Caldwell each finished with six points.
