Tigers Track Team Opens 2009 Season at Davis County

After seeing the seasons first events washed out by Mother Nature, the Scotland County boys track team finally hit the road on April 14th to participate in the Davis County Relays in Bloomfield, IA.

The Tigers took fifth place with a team score of 65.

Rod Sears racked up a pair of top finishes for Scotland County. The sophomore cleared 178 in the long jump to earn 10 points for the team. He then crossed the finish line first in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:09 to double his point output. He went on to take third in the 200-meter dash as well.

Sabe Sears cleared 56 in the high jump to earn first place. Sabe, Rod, Brock Bondurant and Logan Payne teamed up to finish fourth in the 4x800 meter relay.

William Masden earned third place in the shot put with a throw of 364. Teammate Will See was sixth with a toss of 323.

Third place points were also earned by Tyler Troutman who ran the 3,200 meter in 12:52.

The SCR-I 4x200 team of Drew Miller, Brad Hamner, Harley Stone and Matt Tague was fourth in a time of 1:49.6.

Logan Payne finished fifth in the 1,600 meter run. The 4x400 team of Sabe Sears, Bondurant, Miller and Tague finished fifth as well.

The distance medley squad of Miller, Stone, Tague and Bondurant was sixth.
