A pair of Scotland County R-I basketball players will take to the hardwood one final time to represent the Lady Tigers. Melissa Cotton and Kaitlin Caldwell have been named to the Missouri roster for the 27th Annual McDonald’s/Herald-Whig Classic girls all-star basketball game.

The former SCR-I standoffs will team up with fellow Missouri all-stars to take on a similar squad from across the River in Illinois. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 at Quincy University’s Pepsi Arena.

Fellow 2009 graduates joining Caldwell and Cotton on the Missouri squad are Annie Boston, a guard from Louisiana; Monroe City’s Whitney Buckman and Laura Williams; Danielle Boulware, a forward from Palmyra; Chelsea Reutenauer, a guard from Hannibal; Elizabeth Russell a forward from South Shelby; Tessa Ramer, a guard from Knox County and Lindsey Lillard, a forward from Canton.

Missouri leads the series 16-10 after posting a 91-75 victory last year.

The Illinois roster will include Mackenzie Carroll of Illini West; Chloe Barnes and Hilary Obert of Quincy Notre Dame; Lucy Cramsey of Liberty; Lindsey Buckert, Kelsey Miller and Kerbee Koehler of West Hancock; Katelyn Moore of Central-Southeastern; Macey Black of Pleasant Hill; and Cassie Ferguson of Pittsfield.

The Missouri squad will be coached by Bob Gillim of Monroe City and Becky Monachino of Hannibal while Liberty-Payson’s Brad Neisen, and Brett Miller will guide the Illinois all-stars.

Tickets for the game will be $5 with children 5 & under getting in free. Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased in advance at any of the Quincy, IL McDonald’s locations or the Quincy Herald-Whig newspaper office.
